Local World War II Index

Thanks to the hard work of a Brick Eagle scout candidate, visitors to our museum can now use an index to search through our popular World War II scrapbooks.
The scrapbooks were compiled by Leader newspaper editor Elmer Errickson and feature clippings and photographs of Point Pleasant Beach area servicemen and women during the war and at home on leave.  Until now visitors interested in finding particular friends or family had to page through all eight volumes.  As part of his Eagle Scout project, Craig Patton compiled an index of all those listed, showing what pages they appear on and what branch of the Armed Services they
belonged to.  Patton also compiled an index for the Society's smaller World War I scrapbook.
Museum Curator Kathy Heim said "Craig's well thought- out index is a curator's dream-come-true.  It will make things so much easier for the many World War II veterans who visit our museum.
Point Pleasant Beach Borough Administrator Robert Meany, a Historical Society member, was instrumental in presenting the project to Patton.
